Former Alabama standout cornerback Marlon Humphrey made a sizeable donation to the university. Humphrey was a key player in Crimson Tide's 2014 class. He played a crucial role for legendary coach Nick Saban, contributing to a college football playoff national championship and earning three Southeastern Conference titles.
Humphrey donated $250,000 to the UA’s College of Communication and Information Sciences to create a lecture series on sports broadcasting. He contributed an additional $50,000 to the university’s adapted athletics program to provide essential equipment and travel funds for wheelchair athletes.
Humphrey’s generosity is a testament to his dedication to giving back to the institution that helped shape his career. His contributions will undoubtedly enhance the experiences of future students and athletes.
The Ravens CB is a three-time Pro Bowl selection and led the NFL in forced fumbles in 2020. Humphrey has hit the ground running since being picked in the first round by the Baltimore Ravens in 2017. He has shown off his leadership skills and become a commanding voice in the Ravens locker room.
Alabama invests heavily in basketball training and development facility
The University of Alabama is investing in its basketball program with a major facility upgrade. The new Coleman Coliseum Basketball Training & Player Development Facility will expand by 48,000 square feet and renovate 19,000 square feet of existing space.
"This facility is where our basketball programs will spend the majority of their time," Alabama Athletics Director Greg Byrne said.
The upgraded facility will include weight rooms, lounges, dedicated practice gyms, locker rooms, lounges, film rooms and sports medicine spaces for men's and women's teams. Byrne is focused on the importance of the project for player development:
"The expansion and renovation will provide the optimal space for our men’s and women’s programs to train and develop."
Construction is set to begin this fall, with the new facility expected to be fully operational by 2026. Byrne assured that the day-to-day operations of Coleman Coliseum would not be impacted during construction, ensuring a smooth transition for the teams.
