Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes are making noise in the 2024 college football season for all the right reasons. This was not the case last year when Deion Sanders' team collapsed after winning three games on a trot and then managing only one win in their next nine games.
The Buffs boast a 4-1 record and sit comfortably in the second position in the Big 12 conference with a 2-0 record. CFB analysts and fans are debating whether Sanders can take his team to the playoffs, and if former Buffalo Bills quarterback EJ Manuel is to be believed, the answer is:
"Hell yeah, they can! The Big 12 is wide open. There's Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas State, BYU ... I'm not gonna count out Colorado anytime," the 16th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft said on ESPN's morning show - "Get Up."
The Buffs will host the No. 18 Kansas State Wildcats in conference play at Folsom Field on Saturday. Coach Prime's team is confident, and with his quarterback son Shedeur Sanders leading the attack and two-way sensation Travis Hunter firing on all cylinders, the Buffs will look to extend their undefeated record in the Big 12.
Coach Prime and Paul Finebaum are at it again
The love story between Coach Prime and ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum continues. However, there's a bit more respect in the air. This year, Finebaum has criticized Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes during the preseason, dismissed their playoff chances, and then changed his analysis to being most impressed by the Buffs.
However, the Colorado coach seems to be taking it all in stride.
“You got to understand what these gentlemen understand. If you mention us, you get clicks. You get known. You get spots all around the country and now you’re known for that guy that’s been hating on us,” Sanders told Romi Bean.
“I understand him. I respect him. I don’t get upset with him because he’s just doing his job and he’s trying to hang on in a world full of people that want attention."
Finebaum has softened his stance, particularly after the Buffs posted a convincing 48-21 win over the UCF Knights in week 5.
