Fans in Dallas aren't the only ones pushing for Deion Sanders to coach the Dallas Cowboys. Former Philadelphia Panthers running back LeSean "Shady" McCoy also has a lot to say about it. On Wednesday's episode of "The Facility," McCoy discussed what the Colorado Buffaloes coach can bring to Dallas.
“All I’m saying is, Deion Sanders, imagine him being your coach," McCoy said. "You see everything he does, everywhere he goes, he wins. Jackson State? I know nothing about Jackson. I started tuning into him right in the history of 'they weren’t that good till they got him.' Colorado, they weren’t winning games before he got there, now look what’s going on. It’s booming in Colorado.
"So all I'm saying is that it could be the same thing for the Cowboys. They might need that excitement. Get that thing going a little bit, getting a little smart. He's a hell of a coach. He wins everywhere he goes and let's be honest, we never see Deion losing.”
Sanders was a cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys for five years. He won the 1996 Super Bowl with the team and became one of the most iconic players in NFL history. The question is can he replicate that success as a coach for Dallas — LeSean McCoy believes he can.
Coach Prime's success with the Colorado Buffaloes has cemented his status as a top college football coach. With rumors swirling about the Cowboys potentially parting ways with Mike McCarthy, Sanders could be next in line.
Former Jets quarterback backs Deion Sanders to take over the Cowboys
LeSean McCoy isn’t the only former NFL player to back Deion Sanders. Former Jets quarterback Brett Favre spoke to TMZ Sports on Thursday and expressed his support for a Sanders-led Dallas Cowboys.
Favre believes that his success at Jackson State and Colorado, as well as his history with the Cowboys, makes him the perfect fit for the job.
“If he (Jerry Jones) does go in the direction of firing Mike McCarthy, which I have no idea which way he’s leaning, Deion may have a shot to step in there," Favre said. "I think he’s definitely worthy of a shot.”
For now, Sanders insists that he has no intention of leaving Boulder. However, anything can happen in the world of football. Will we see a Deion Sanders-Jerry Jones reunion in 2025? Time will tell.
