Shedeur Sanders offered his opinion on the race for the Heisman Trophy this season on Tuesday. While the quarterback has an outside chance of claiming the honor, his teammate Travis Hunter is one of the frontrunners and the Colorado quarterback wants to see him win it.

While his words have brought out a level of selflessness in him, former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly is unimpressed with Sanders’ behavior and attitude on the field.

Kelly has a lot of character concerns regarding the quarterback, citing his antics on the field since he arrived at Colorado. He has kept a record of Shedeur Sanders' misconduct on the field and continues to update it. Below are the red flags he believes are worth taking a look at:

1. Flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct against Nebraska for removing his helmet (2023)
2. Pre-game verbal altercation vs. Colorado State (2023)
3. Got into Colorado State DB #11 Henry Blackburn’s face (after a late hit by Blackburn) and then seen pushing away from a teammate and refs (2023)
4. Poking Colorado State defender in the eyes (2023)
5. Grabbed ASU defender Shamari Simmons' mouthpiece and threw it in the stands after a TD
6. Taunts ASU crowd after the game (2023)
7. Shoved a teammate during the Nebraska game (2024)
8. Walked off the field early against Nebraska and did not shake hands with them after the game (2024)
9. Publicly blaming his offensive line (2024)
10. Refusing to shake hands with Colorado State QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi after the game and having words with him (audio included)

What did Shedeur Sanders say on the Heisman race?

Shedeur Sanders didn’t mince words in his opinion when questioned about the Heisman Trophy race. The quarterback wants Travis Hunter to be named the winner in New York this December. The two-way star is currently the second favorite for the award according to the odds.

“They’re not going to give it to two players on the same team,” Sanders said. “Me and Trav, it won’t happen like that. It is what it is. I don’t really look too deep into that. I just want Travis to win, of course, and that will be almost like I won because I’m throwing the ball.
“He [Travis Hunter] is the best player in college football, hands down, and I’m excited for him to win it. That would truly just make my day right there. When he was on the cover of the NCAA game, just seeing him on there, knowing the sacrifice that he took to make all this happen.”

Sanders and Hunter have both been impressive on the gridiron this season. Their chemistry on the field of play has been crucial to Colorado’s significant progress this season. Hunter has also been superb on the defensive side of the ball, showcasing his versatility.
