Former Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban has been going about his media duties for the "Pat McAfee Show" despite his mother Mary Pasko Saban's death a few days ago. He will be present on ESPN"S "College GameDay" show in College Station for the week one clash pitting the Texas A&M Aggies against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

On Friday, during an episode of the popular "Pat McAfee Show," the former LSU coach was asked by former West Virginia quarterback Pat White whether he would have changed him from quarterback if he had recruited him for the Tigers.

The retired Saban, who vigorously recruited the talented quarterback who had been invited to the show for the Mountaineers' clash against the Penn State Nittany Lions, gave a fitting reply.

“But I would’ve never moved you from quarterback unless you saw that you could have a better future at another position,” Nick Saban said. “I never made anybody in our program ever play something they didn’t want to play. So you could’ve stayed at quarterback and may have been a great quarterback at LSU or wherever it were at the time.
"But I would’ve never made you play a position that you didn’t want to play. Now you would’ve never believed me then, but I got no reason now. I’m just this old guy that’s going fishing every now and then, so I’m telling you the truth. So I would’ve never moved you unless you wanted to move and you saw you had a better future at another position.”

Nick Saban congratulates Pat White despite snubbing LSU

In 2004, Pat White had committed to Saban's LSU Tigers to play as a wide receiver before signing his letter of intent to join the West Virginia Mountaineers because they promised that he would be allowed to play QB.

He went on to have a legendary career with the Mountaineers and was picked No. 44 overall by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

During the "Pat McAfee" show segment, Nick Saban, who was raised in West Virginia, revealed his pride at White joining the Mountaineers despite snubbing his LSU Tigers team.

“If he (White) had to go anywhere besides LSU, I’m glad he went to West Virginia, and I was really, really proud of the kind of program that he had, performance that he had there and the kind of career that he had there,” Nick Saban said. “Really proud of him.”

Pat White remains one of a few select prospects to have eluded the strong recruitment charm of Nick Saban.
