Underwood's decision to de-commit from LSU and join Michigan had some suggesting that Connor Stalions might have had a say in changing the quarterback's mind.

Stalions, a hardcore Wolverines fan, was part of Michigan's coaching staff last season. However, he left his role with the team after being the main accused in Michigan's sign-stealing scandal. Only a few weeks ago, Stalions had joined Belleville's coaching staff for the team's playoff run.

Since Underwood was considered the top quarterback recruit entering the 2025 class, many felt that Stalions had joined Belleville's coaching staff just to divert the quarterback to Michigan.

Underwood finished the 2024 season at Belleville by completing 113 of 151 passes for 2,095 yards with 29 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed 29 times for 489 yards and three scores.

It will be interesting to see how Underwood fares at Michigan next season. He is expected to compete for the starting quarterback position.

J.J. McCarthy led Michigan to the national title last season before entering the 2024 NFL draft. The quarterback racked up 2,291 yards on 332 passes, throwing 22 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns.

Michigan finished the season with an unbeaten 15-0 record and took down Washington in the national championship game in January. McCarthy then declared for the NFL draft, where the Minnesota Vikings selected him with their No. 10 pick.

Unfortunately for McCarthy, he picked up a knee injury that ruled him out for the 2024 NFL season. He tore his torn meniscus in his right knee in preseason. McCarthy is expected to return for the Vikings next season.
