Connor Stalions has been dubbed the "most hated man in college football right now" as he makes his comeback to the sidelines. The former Michigan staffer's hiring comes even as an NCAA investigation looms over the Wolverines for an alleged sign-stealing scandal. His actions, which ignited the investigation, also led to former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh getting mired in the scandal.

Stalions, who had been suspended last October due to the ongoing probe and resigned in November, has secured a defensive coordinator position at Detroit Mumford High School.

The school’s head coach, William McMichael, confirmed the news.

“I got the most hated man in college football right now, Connor Stalions,” McMichael told The Detroit News. “He’s my defensive coordinator.”

Adding to the controversy, Netflix is set to release a documentary titled "Sign Stealer" on Aug. 27, delving into the events surrounding the alleged scheme.

The previous fallout from the investigation saw Harbaugh suspended for the final three regular-season games, and Stalions, who was hired by Michigan in May 2022 as a “player personnel analyst,” was suspended with pay shortly after the investigation was made public.

According to ESPN, reports surfaced that the Wolverines employed a sophisticated scouting system to steal signals from their opponents, a violation of NCAA rules dating back to at least 2021. The investigation primarily focuses on allegations of illegal off-campus scouting.

College football fans are buzzing about Connor Stalions' new defensive coordinator role

Fans are buzzing as Connor Stalions, the former Michigan staffer at the center of an NCAA investigation, has scored a new role. Despite the ongoing scrutiny, Stalions will be the Mumford High School defensive coordinator in the upcoming season.

A Wolverines fan posted a meme while writing on X/Twitter:

“Connor Stalions after he got the call from Detroit Mumford asking him to be their Defensive Coordinator.”
“National champion and patriot Connor Stallions,” a fan sarcastically posted.
“Detroit Mumford has hired the man, the myth, the legend Connor Stalions,” another wrote on X.
“Is he really "hated?" Michigan won the national title despite him. If anything, he's seen as a joke now,” another fan commented.
“Still doing the side hustle with the vacuum cleaners?” a fan humorously tweeted.
“Perfect setting. Crowd sourcing from kids who are always recording insta reels,” another fan commented.

Now, as Stalions returns to the field, all eyes will be on him as the NCAA's investigation continues to unfold.
