Kyler Murray is an emerging talented quarterback who plays for the Arizona Cardinals. Murray played college football with the Oklahoma Sooners, leading the program to some success.

Murray is a unique athlete. He played football and baseball in college. Thus, he was able to learn a lot from having to balance playing two unique sports.

Murray once explained these things during a interview he gave to ESPN while he was at Oklahoma:

"I love both games they both teach me two different lessons. Obviously baseball, you know, it's game of failure. So in the grand scheme of things I think it has the shape to me to be the patient guy ... I'm not taking it hard learning how to deal with failure and, you know as well as I do, you're gonna fail. That's exactly at the end of day. Baseball makes you want to quit sometimes."

Murray learned to be patient from his time playing baseball. This is an important skill in baseball due to the slower nature of the game. Players need to be patient and calm when playing. If they are not, then mistakes can happen, and these could cost the team the game.

Patience is something that is appreciated in football but for other reasons. These reasons are more related to the direction of one's career. By being patient, sticking with the team and working hard on and off the field, the poor fortunes of a team may improve as strugglers become contenders.

Kyler played three seasons of college football. The first was with the Texas A&M Aggies, while the final two were with the Oklahoma Sooners. During those three seasons, Murray threw for 5,406 yards and 50 touchdowns.

But football was not the only sport that Murray played. He played baseball for two seasons with the Sooners, where he made 62 hits and scored 10 home runs.

The Oakland Athletics selected Murray as the ninth pick of the 2018 MLB draft. While he has never played for the Athletics, choosing his NFL career over baseball, the Athletics have the rights to him if he ever returned to the sport.
