Former USC Trojans running back Reggie Bush shared a few details of his upcoming documentary, which is still in the works. In the film, the 2005 Heisman Trophy winner will highlight his battle with the NCAA.
During an appearance on the “All The Smoke” podcast, Bush provided some insights on his to-be-released documentary.
“I don’t have a six-part series yet, but it will be around there – four, six, eight – we’ll see. But there’s so much information that’s going to be in this documentary. It’s all new information. So it’s nothing that anybody knew or thought they knew about my story,” Bush said.
Bush was stripped of his Heisman in 2010, but the NCAA reinstated his trophy earlier this year. However, the player's reputation took a big hit when he was accused of cheating.
“There’s a lot that was covered up in my story by the NCAA. There was a lot of dirty s*** that they did in the media, just releasing little things to damage my character. One of the biggest ones was basically calling me a cheater when I’ve never cheated a day in my life,” Bush said.
Bush's Heisman was revoked after the NCAA launched an investigation into reports claiming that the player received cash, travel expenses and a rent-free home from two sports agents while at USC, which was against NCAA policies.
However, Bush's Heisman was reinstated in April this year.
Reggie Bush maintains innocence despite the tumultuous NCAA scandal around Heisman Trophy
Reggie Bush has always maintained his innocence regarding his Heisman Trophy revokement. He reaffirmed it on the “All The Smoke” podcast.
“I have been saying the same thing from Day 1. From the time I was a rookie in the NFL and they were alleging all of these things against me. We did nothing wrong,” Bush said.
“This all came from the NCAA and their attempt to take down USC, everything that we stood for. All the success that we had and we created there with my teammates, and coaches. They really didn’t like that we were flashy as a football team. That bothered them."
The controversial saga around Bush's Heisman Trophy has now ended after nearly 20 years.
