As the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs gear up for their Week 1 showdown against the No. 14 Clemson Tigers, they face several injury concerns that could impact their opening game of the 2024 college football season. Saturday's game kicks off at noon ET from Mercedes-Benz Stadium and will be broadcast live on ABC and ESPN+.

Coach Kirby Smart has been forthcoming about the team's injury status, providing updates on several key players. While Georgia has avoided major injuries in the preseason, some players' conditions remain uncertain.

Georgia Bulldogs Week 1 injury report ahead of Clemson matchup

Colbie Young

Wide receiver Colbie Young is dealing with a hamstring injury and is currently listed as questionable for the game against Clemson. Talking about Young, Smart said:

"Yeah, Colbie (Young)’s been great. He practiced ever since we started on Clemson full go. He’s been great and should be ready to go."

Warren Brinson

Defensive lineman Warren Brinson is recovering from an Achilles injury but is considered probable for the game. Smart said:

"Warren looks good, he's practiced every day we've practiced for Clemson. He didn't have the luxury of going through camp. But he's also had four camps during his time at Georgia."

Xzavier McLeod

Defensive lineman Xzavier McLeod is handling an unspecified injury that raises doubts about the Bulldogs' defensive depth. McLeod's presence in the game is still not definite, as Smart said:

"Been dealing with a little bit of an injury we don't know when we will get him back."

Roderick Robinson

Running back Roderick Robinson has been ruled out for the Week 1 game due to a turf toe injury. According to Smart, Robinson’s condition remains a concern, as he said:

"Rod's toe is still an issue for him. Anytime you go into a season, ask what do you have? You really don't know what you have."

Smael Mondon Jr.

Linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. has been dealing with a foot injury but has managed to participate fully in practice sessions. Mondon’s injury status remains something to monitor as the game approaches.

Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards

Running backs Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards are also managing injuries. Milton has been dealing with a hamstring injury, while Edwards is recovering from an MCL sprain. Smart provided an encouraging update on Edwards and said:

"Daijun is dealing with an MCL, but he’s doing great. He’s going to be able to practice today. It happened in the second scrimmage, he’s bounced back pretty good from that."

Edwards' recovery seems promising, as he has been battling a hamstring issue for most of the preseason. Smart said:

"He feels 80/90 percent. We’re hopeful to get him back. We feel good about both of those guys."

The Georgia Bulldogs took home the SEC East division title last season, going 8-0 in conference games. They utterly devastated Florida State by producing their highest-ever 60-point win in history in the Orange Bowl. Still, they suffered a defeat to Alabama in the SEC Championship game, which left them out of the College Football Playoff.
