The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have reportedly lost another player to the transfer portal. On Saturday, 247Sports reported that offensive lineman Kai Greer is expected to leave the Yellow Jackets for the Stanford Cardinal after one season.

Greer committed to the Yellow Jackets last year as a four-star prospect from Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw, North Carolina. He was also considered the 11th-best player in the state.

Georgia Tech coach Brent Key didn't play Greer in his freshman year. The Yellow Jackets (7-6, 5-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) played their final game of the 2024 season in a 35-27 loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores (7-6, 3-5 Southeastern Conference) in the Birmingham Bowl on Dec. 27.

On Dec. 31, Greer announced on X/Twitter that he was entering the transfer portal and promoted his attributes to teams interested in him.

"I would like to announce that I have entered the transfer portal. I am 6'6" 290lb offensive lineman with four years of eligibility," Greer posted.

Greer also shared he has received offers from teams other than Stanford (3-9, 2-6 ACC), including the No. 15 Miami Hurricanes (10-3, 6-2 ACC) and the Liberty Flames (8-3, 5-3 Conference USA). Per 247Sports, he had committed to the Cardinal before attending Georgia Tech on June 13, 2023.

If Saturday's report comes to fruition, Greer could transfer to Stanford for a better opportunity to play. The Cardinal had the second-worst record in the ACC this season, and acquiring the former four-star prospect could help them improve their offensive line.

Georgia Tech faces mixed results from the transfer portal

The Yellow Jackets have lost nine players committed to other teams through the transfer portal. One notable loss is wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., who led the team in receiving yards with 56 receptions for 754 yards and three touchdowns.

On Dec. 23, Singleton reposted a tweet from the Auburn Tigers (5-7, 2-6 SEC) on X to confirm he had signed with them.

Per On3, the team has six players who have entered the transfer portal but have yet to commit to a new program. Although Georgia Tech has lost members of its roster, it has acquired 13 players for the 2025 season.

One of the new signees is former UTSA Roadrunners (7-6, 4-4 American Athletic Conference) edge rusher Ronald Triplette, who had 23 tackles, 10 solo tackles, four sacks and two fumbles this season.

The Yellow Jackets coach will try to adjust to the roster change during the offseason to help Georgia Tech compete against the best in the ACC.
