During the 2024 season, Arkansas Razorbacks coach Sam Pittman led the program to a 6-6 record. This was a slight improvement from their 2023 record of 4-8, but fans know that the Razorbacks can be a lot better.
One way in which Pittman can improve the Arkansas team is through the transfer portal. On Thursday, John Nabors of Inside Arkansas asked his followers how the Hogs coach has done during the current portal.
Fans gave their take on Pittman's work thus far and also shared some advice on what the Hogs should do. This fan thinks that the Razorbacks should make the move for Texas QB Arch Manning.
"Getting Arch Manning. Wouldn’t Archie just have a fit. I’m surprised Arch hasn’t hit the Portal. He could get a pretty penny," this fan said.
These fans generally think that Pittman has done a good job, but the Razorbacks need to improve their defensive line.
"He has done well for the most part. Need help on defensive line," this fan said
"Very good overall but I think we need some more transfer on Defense especially the defense line," another fan said.
A few fans think that Pittman has done an average job and that the Razorbacks need to work on their offense.
"Overall I feel like we lost more talent than we gained but he did address areas of concern on the Oline. I am still worried about our defensive back end as well as our TE and WR rooms," this fan said.
"He could land an A+ transfer class and get a performance score out of it that doesn’t exceed a C. Lack of talent is part of the problem. You can’t out recruit the other part of it," another fan added.
Finally, this fan thinks that Arkansas needs to bring in players from other power four conferences.
"We are getting a lot of good guys from lower divisions. We need to be getting good players from the top division," the fan said.
Sam Pittman gives his take on what Arkansas needs
While fans have given their thoughts and plans for the Razorbacks' transfer portal, Sam Pittman has also spoken about what he thinks the team needs. (Start at 32:43)
"Offensive line would be one (area of need). Defensive line would be one. We felt like we were pretty good at the linebacker spots. If you go back and look a couple of years ago, the world was falling because this linebacker (left), that linebacker (left)."
The Razorbacks have already begun to make moves on their offensive line. In the last week, Arkansas has signed three players who are likely to make a difference for the offensive line.
One of these players is the former UCF Knight Caden Kittler. Kittler played every game for the Knights this season and did not allow a single sack.
He will be joined by Former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Corey Robinson II, who had been seen as one of the best available offensive linesmen in the portal.
