The Daily Show's correspondent and comedian, Jordan Klepper, took hilarious jabs at Ryan Day's Ohio State in the latest episode. Klepper made a joke about why the Ohio State fanbase's chant is OH-IO.
A photo of Klepper attending a Michigan football game pops up, with him showing his support for the Wolverines and saying the 'Go Blue' chant to further roast the program.
"By the way, if you're wondering why the Ohio chant is 'OH-IO', it's because it's the only word people from Ohio can spell. Go Blue you hillbilly f***s", Klepper said.
The Michigan-Ohio State rivalry garnered attention during Jordan Klepper's program after former President Donald Trump picked Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his Vice Presidential candidate. In his acceptance speech, Vance discussed attending Ohio State and growing up in Ohio, prompting the crowd to yell 'OH-IO' in his support, while the Michigan crowd chanted 'Let's Go Blue.'
The Buckeyes' head coach, Ryan Day, is gearing up for his sixth season with the program. After leading them to two consecutive Big Ten championships in 2019 and 2020, the Buckeyes have not been able to replicate the same level of success in the past few years. Furthermore, Day has lost the past three games against the Wolverines, with their last victory coming during the 2019 campaign.
He did put in the work in the offseason to revamp the squad ahead of the 2024 season. With new talents like Caleb Downs from Alabama, Day will be looking forward to securing a victory against Michigan in their first campaign under Jim Harbaugh's successor, Sherrone Moore.
CFB insider predicts outcome for Ryan Days's Ohio State if they lose to Michigan during the 2024 season
The Buckeyes and the Wolverines are set to clash with each other once again in November. And according to Josh Pate, things could turn sour for Ryan Day if he succumbs to another loss at the hands of the Wolverines.
During an episode of his podcast, the CFB insider said that if the Buckeyes lose to Michigan once again, then it will be 'disastrous' for Day as it could overshadow his entire 2024 season.
"It would be a disaster in Ohio State," Pate said. "There's this weird thing in college football that's both beautiful and terrifying, and that is the impact and weight of rivalry games. If Ohio State loses to Michigan, I don't care what else they did elsewhere in the season, it will be an illogical conversation for Ryan Day from that point out." (2:05)
It will be interesting to see if Day can lead his team to break their losing streak against Michigan. Furthermore, with the new 12-team playoff format in place, the Buckeyes will be looking to contend for a playoff spot and maybe a shot at the national championship.
