Texas Longhorns starting quarterback Quinn Ewers is reportedly set to declare for the 2025 NFL draft. The senior signal-caller is considered among next year's top picks, and his move to go pro will likely pave the way for Arch Manning to lead Texas' offense next season.

College football fans on social media had mixed reactions to the news that Ewers will declare for the 2025 NFL draft.

Some felt that the timing of Ewers' departure to go pro would be helpful for Manning. A few also praised Ewers for his three years of service with the Longhorns.

"Good news," one wrote.
"I really want Quinn to leave as a Longhorn so bad man. He’s been a legend for us despite what some say. Two 11 plus win seasons," another added.
"None of this is news. Ewers has stayed the course with his intentions to go to the NFL draft, and Manning and his family would like to see him start at least 2 years at Texas before moving on," a user tweeted.

Others suggested the Ewers could return for another season, with some pointing out that the quarterback could still have a future at the collegiate level.

"Quinn should come back for another year to improve his draft stock," one wrote.
"Interesting on the Quinn front. As of right now where Quinn’s draft projections are is he would make more money next year in college than he would make in the NFL. This is an opinion without a pro day, and any kind of playoff hot run. The highest projection I’ve seen is a 2nd round, lowest being a 4th rounder," another tweeted.
"He gets hurt every year so if he transferred it wouldn’t make a difference, he may fall to a good situation and make the best of it," a fan commented.

Quinn Ewers began his collegiate career at Ohio State in 2021. He transferred to Texas after one season with the Buckeyes and has been the starting quarterback for the Longhorns ever since.

Quinn Ewers has had another solid season for Texas in 2024. However, he has struggled in the past few games, including the Southeastern Conference title game defeat against Georgia.

However. No. 5 Texas is still in the College Football Playoff and Ewers is expected to start against No. 12 Clemson in the first round of the playoffs. However, the Longhorns could also use second-choice quarterback Arch Manning in some key plays since his running game has impressed many this season.

The Texas vs. Clemson playoff game will kick off at 4 p.m. ET on Dec. 21.
