Alabama fans are hoping that Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin will return to Tuscaloosa after long-time coach Nick Saban announced his retirement on Wednesday. '
The Crimson Tide reached the College Football Playoff this season but lost 27-20 to No. 1-ranked Michigan in the semifinal showdown on Jan. 1. Saban's retirement was announced nine days later, sending ripples across college football.
Kiffin has a complicated history with Alabama. He served as the offensive coordinator from 2014 to 2016, helping the Crimson Tide win a national championship in 2015. Alabama defeated Clemson in a thrilling title game that ended 45-40. However, Kiffin left Alabama before the 2017 national championship game to become the head coach at Florida Atlantic.
Kiffin joined the Rebels in 2020 and led the program to a 10-3 record in 2021 and 8-5 in 2022. Ole Miss went 11-2 in 2023 and beat Penn State 38-25 in the Peach Bowl game.
Safe to say, Kiffin is regarded highly in Mississippi. He recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to give insights into how he's spending his time.
"LFG!! Start of a great weekend," Kiffin wrote.
However, the image included the Rebels' Vaught Hemingway Stadium in Mississippi with the "Party in the 'Sip" sign. The post left some Alabama fans unconvinced that Lane Kiffin is happy in his current job.
"Got nothing on Bryant Denny Stadium. Come home, bro," a fan posted.
“Damn. Thought maybe you were coming to T-Town,” another wrote.
“At what time on this great weekend do you announce you’re coming to T-town! Let’s go!” a post read.

Lane Kiffin's X feed leans heavily toward 'Roll Tide'
Ole Miss coach has been mentioned as a possible successor to Nick Saban at Alabama. This opinion does not differ from that of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback A.J. McCarron, also a former Crimson Tide QB.
McCarron was recently on "The Rally" show and said Kiffin's social media posts lean toward Alabama.
“Hell, he tweets ‘Roll Tide’ more than he does ‘Come to the 'Sip,’” McCarron said.
“If that’s what he does - and stayed in the good graces of Nick Saban, calling him the GOAT, he always picks Alabama, talks all week about Alabama,” McCarron said. “This is his dream job.”
McCarron believes Kiffin should be the next coach of his alma mater. He said that Lane Kiffin is the only coach in the SEC who can openly support another team in the same division.
