Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes have had plenty of doubters. However, their performance on the field has silenced a majority of those voices. With an 8-2 (6-1 in Big 12) record, the Buffaloes sit second in the conference and are still in the conversation to make the 12-team College Football Playoff.

Despite the success, some critics remain unconvinced. Media personality Jason Whitlock continued his attack on coach Sanders with a post on X.

"Deion hasn't faced an ounce of oppression since first or second grade," Whitlock tweeted. "He's lived a life of athletic privilege. Rather than constantly thank God for his blessing, he has sought to paint himself as a victim. That's what I can't stand about Deion. And I ain't apologizing for it."

Whitlock has been a vocal critic of Deion Sanders for years, but his disdain has grown since Coach Prime took over the Buffaloes ahead of the 2023 season. Last week, Whitlock made a bold bet that if the Buffaloes win two of their final three games, he will fly to their bowl game, wear Colorado gear, and cheer for the Buffs in the stands.

Can Deion Sanders lead the Colorado Buffaloes to the College Football Playoff?

The Colorado Buffaloes have witnessed one of the most remarkable turnarounds in college football history. Last season, they won four games and lost eight of their final nine to miss out on a bowl game appearance. Now, the program is clicking on all cylinders.

A major reason for the success of the program has been the production of two-way star and Heisman Trophy hopeful Travis Hunter. Mix that in with the Buffs protecting quarterback Shedeur Sanders better and the defense stepping up and holding teams to 22.7 points per game this year, they are in an amazing spot.

We will not know the updated College Football Playoff rankings until Tuesday, but the Colorado Buffaloes are certainly in the hunt. Winning the Big 12 Championship almost certainly locks them in for the CFP and according to DraftKings Sportsbook, Colorado is a heavy favorite (-120) to win the conference title.
