Haynes King initially joined the Texas A&M Aggies as a four-star prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. He appeared in just 10 games, seven of which were starts, during his three years with the program, throwing for 1,579 yards, 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. King completed just 56.6% of his pass attempts while adding 150 rushing yards and one touchdown on 41 carries.
He joined the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets via the transfer portal ahead of the 2023 season and was named the starting quarterback immediately. King appeared in 23 games, all of which were starts, over the past two seasons and threw for 4,752 yards, 38 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. He has completed 65.8% of his passes while running for 1,315 yards and 21 touchdowns on 234 carries.
The Yellow Jackets quarterback is not yet expected to enter the transfer portal but if he does, he will be one of the most sought-after play-callers in college football.
Here's a closer look at five potential landing spots for Haynes King if, like his teammate Zach Pyron, he chooses to move on from Georgia Tech.
5 potential landing spots for Haynes King via transfer portal
#1. Michigan Wolverines
The Michigan Wolverines flipped the commitment of Bryce Underwood, however, they are still expected to spend big money to add another signal caller via the transfer portal. Haynes King is expected to be one of the most coveted quarterbacks on the transfer market and could be a fit for Sherrone Moore's squad.
#2. Alabama Crimson Tide
The Alabama Crimson Tide is expected to be in the market for a quarterback via the transfer portal as Jalen Milroe is projected to be selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. They could provide Haynes King with an opportunity to play for one of the most prestigious programs in the sport with the added spotlight of playing in the SEC.
#3. USC Trojans
The USC Trojans have been among the biggest disappointments in college football over the past two seasons. Head coach Lincoln Riley has shared that he will look to land a quarterback via the transfer portal. Riley has coached three Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks in just eight seasons. Haynes King could look to play for a highly-respected offensive mind in a major market.
#4. Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers were one of four programs that held an official visit with Haynes King coming out of high school. They are expected to target a quarterback via the transfer portal and the dual-threat signal caller could be a fit.
#5. Duke Blue Devils
The Duke Blue Devils were another program that held an official visit with Haynes King as he was in high school. While Maalik Murphy had a strong start to the 2024 season, his performance dipped in the second half of the year. The Blue Devils could look to find an upgrade via the transfer portal.
