Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders shares a special bond with WWE superstar Bill Goldberg. Given the mutual trust and respect they share, Goldberg's son Gage decided to commit to play for the Buffs.
Gage Goldberg was initially committed to play for Alabama. But after Nick Saban's sudden retirement, he flipped his commitment to play for Deion Sanders' Colorado. And so far, his father is happy and impressed with his transformation amid the offseason training.
Bill Goldberg talked about his son's progress as a member of the Colorado team. He said that Gage has had 'unbelievable growth' under Coach Prime and went on to rave about how he is expecting great things from him during his collegiate career.
"Oh my god, the difference in just my son alone is unbelievable. He's bigger, stronger, faster and he is taking directions like he has never taken before," Bill Goldberg said. "And that's what he needed more than anything. That and get out of his shell and little bit and you know, get to the front of the line. Don't wait for everybody in the back."
He added:
"But, you know, it's all jumping into the front and get as much coaching as humanly possible. Soak it up like a sponge and I see the results. So bravo, way to go boys. As Coach Deion said, not only does he have great coaches he has great fathers. They're thorough, they go from top to bottom. And the reality is somebody can drop at any moment. You have to make sure everyone is ready."
Gage Goldberg joins Deion Sanders's team as a part of Colorado's 2024 recruitment class. His father also has experience playing with Coach Prime in the NFL before changing his career to wrestling. So he will be looking forward to his old friend guiding his son Gage through his collegiate journey as a football player.
Greg McElroy talks about Deion Sanders's chances of making it to the playoffs with Colorado in 2024
After last year's 4-8 debut, Coach Prime and the Buffs will begin a new journey in the Big 12. And with the new 12-team playoff format in place, the Buffs will look to be one of the contenders for the national championship. However, college football insider Greg McElroy shared his honest take on Colorado's upcoming Big 12 campaign.
On an episode of 'Always College Football', McElroy said that he believes Deion Sanders and his team will be eligible for the bowl games this upcoming season. However, he is still skeptical about them grabbing a spot in the 12-team playoffs, citing their tough schedule as a potential reason.
"Colorado, I do believe is bowl game bound this year. The problem is the league that they are moving into is all about the offensive and defensive lines," McElroy said. "The schedule is extremely difficult. And the matchups, the matchups for Colorado are something that I don't yet feel great about. I expect them to improve, but this is a see it to believe it business." (3:40 onwards)
Deion Sanders put in the efforts to revamp his roster and coaching staff ahead of his first Big 12 campaign. Will his efforts show results for Colorado this upcoming season?
