Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders decided to forego the 2024 NFL draft for one more season of college football. This decision helped the Buffs put up a 9-3 campaign in the Big 12 and secure Bowl game eligibility for the first time since the 2020 season. Coach Prime and his team will take on BYU in the Alamo Bowl game this season.
While Shedeur Sanders is not a Heisman finalist, he did win the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award for his talents as a QB. On Travis Hunter's show, he and Shedeur were talking about the suit that the QB wore during his Golden Arm award ceremony.
This led to Shedeur Sanders recalling a shopping incident that left his father, Deion Sanders, angry. The QB recalled that he had gone to the mall to pick up some designer suits, including one for the upcoming Heisman ceremony in New York. However, Coach Prime was not happy with the prices of these designer suits.
"Dad basically had to order me some suits cause you know, I was too big for those suits that I had," Shedeur said. "Like I got my suit for your Heisman thing. So anyways, bro, I was gonna go to the mall, you know what I mean and get some fly stuff."
"I'm in the dressing room on the phone with dad. I'm just in this designer store getting a jacket. He (Deion Sanders) said, 'How much that is? How much that suit!? How much the pants?!' Hey bro, he got so mad bro. He got so mad that he said, 'Hey man, if you don't get out that store I know some s**t'. And then he sent me a suit out there." (11:25 onwards)
Shedeur Sanders is planning to be in New York City to support Travis Hunter during the 2024 Heisman Ceremony. It is scheduled to be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 8 p.m. ET. The ceremony will be broadcast live on television on the ESPN channel.
Shedeur Sanders opens up about being left out as a Heisman finalist
The Colorado QB was not very disappointed at being passed over as a finalist for the 2024 Heisman Award. On his show with Darius Sanders, Shedeur explained that as long as his teammate Travis Hunter wins the award, he does not care about anything else.
"I'm really not tripping on it bro," Shedeur said. "Like honestly, I don't need others validation to know who I am...So I don't really care as long as they give at least one of us (Travis Hunter) the respect we deserve. That's all the matters to me."
"If I win an award... it's on behalf the team, the O-line, the receiving corps...Because without those guys, I wouldn't be able to do it...So, If Travis receives the award, it's because of the team." (3:45 onwards)
The Colorado Buffaloes haven't won a Bowl game since 2004. Thus, Shedeur Sanders will be looking to end his collegiate career with an Alamo Bowl victory over BYU and solidify his legacy in the program.
