Trevor Etienne faces his former team when Georgia comes up against Florida on Saturday at the Everbank Stadium in Jacksonville, FL. The running back transferred to Athens during the offseason after spending the first two seasons of his college career in Gainesville.

So far, Etienne has been fantastic with the Bulldogs. In six games this season, he's rushed for 442 yards and seven touchdowns in 82 carries. His brother Travis Etienne, who plays for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is impressed with his overall performance in 2024.

"He’s having a good season,” Travis Etienne told the Athens Banner-Herald regarding his brother’s performance. “He’s much improved in a lot of areas which is really good to see.
"He’s just got to keep going out there and make plays and just continue to be consistent. And I feel like as the season keeps going on, he’ll find ways to get better. Hopefully, he’ll be in the playoffs and the whole world will get a chance to see him play.”

Travis Etienne himself had an astonishing career as a college football athlete with Clemson. He was ACC Player of the Year twice and earned an All-American honor on three occasions. He’ll hope his brother can also reach those heights in his ongoing college career.

Kirby Smart commends Trevor Etienne’s performance

It's only Trevor Etienne's first season at Georgia, but the running back has immediately adapted seamlessly to the team's offensive system. Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart is excited with his performance so far, praising his vision and cutting ability in several matchups.

“He's talented, he's intelligent, he's a level-headed kid, he’s a good leader and a great kid,” Smart said. “I think those qualities help anybody play, but he's older than a freshman. He came into a system that's not that far off from the one he was in in terms of offense. ... So, I think he transitioned well.”

Trevor reminds Smart of the likes of former standouts Sony Michel and D’Andre Swift, who made indelible marks in Athens. The running back will hope to have such an impact as the two in Athens before transitioning to the NFL.

The Florida transfer currently ranks seventh in the SEC for rushing yards per game with 70.3 yards. He recorded an outstanding 89 rushing yards and three touchdowns during the Week 8 showdown against Texas.

With Trevor Etienne set to face his former team this weekend, he will be hoping to put up a performance that can seal a win for his new team. He has explained an eye for a postseason berth was behind his transfer, and this is a chance to help the Bulldogs move closer to that.
