Arch Manning is set to embark on his second season at Texas in 2024. He served as the Longhorns' third-string quarterback last season but he is set to gain a more prominent role in the upcoming college football season following the exit of Maalik Murphy.

Ahead of the 2024 season, Manning has shown his excitement about the new set of receivers in the program.

Freshman Ryan Wingo seems to have impressed Arch Manning with his performance. He noted that the Missouri native, who is ranked the No. 13 prospect in Sportskeeda's class of 2024 composite ranking, possesses sufficient qualities.

“All these new receivers are good, obviously,’” Manning said. “Isaiah Bond, Mathew Golden, Ryan Wingo… Wingo is going to be a starter. I think he's going to play a lot this year. He's just everything you want in a receiver.”

Arch Manning also commends Silas Bolden

After four seasons at Oregon State, Silas Bolden transferred to Texas this offseason amid uncertainty about the Beavers’ future in college football. He is expected to be one of the Longhorns’ top receivers in the upcoming campaign.

Arch Manning was amazed by Bolden’s abilities after engaging him this summer. He believes that the entire receiver room will be key to Texas having another brilliant season as they transition into the Southeastern Conference.

"This guy, Silas Bolden, from Oregon State,” Manning said. “He's a dawg. He's really good. Been throwing to him in the summer. I'm excited for all those guys. And obviously Johntay and D. Moore. I can't wait. It's going to be fun,” he added.

Will Arch Manning be the starting quarterback next season?

Arch Manning won't be Texas' starting quarterback in the 2024 college football season. He is, however, getting promoted to the backup role behind Quinn Ewers, who retains the starting role after returning for his senior season at the program.

Manning was a third-string quarterback at Texas last season, behind Quinn Ewers and Maalik Murphy. However, Murphy left the Longhorns this offseason to continue his college career at Duke. This takes Manning a step closer to the starting spot.

The Longhorns considered Manning as the quarterback of the future and he is expected to take the starting role next season when Ewers eventually transition to the NFL.
