NFL insider Matt Miller has high hopes for Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman's performances under head coach Mike Elko this season.
Last season, a foot injury cut Weigman’s campaign short in Week 4, limiting him to just four games. Despite this setback, Miller believes Weigman is poised for a breakout season.
Weigman is ranked 91 on the list of all NIL athletes with a valuation of $664,000, according to On3.
With the season opener against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Aug. 31 at Kyle Field, Miller shared his optimism on Sports Center.
“Conner Weigman coming back, last year he played four games and missed the rest of the season because of a foot injury. Those four games were fantastic,” Miller said. “I would argue as good as any quarterback we saw last year – 16 touchdowns, 2 interceptions. "
In his limited action last season, Weigman completed 68.9 percent of his passes for 979 yards while registering eight touchdowns and two interceptions. He also added 63 yards and a touchdown on his foot. As the Aggies' primary quarterback this season, he is expected to reach his peak.
“He’s athletic. He has a big arm. And A&M is loaded," Miller added. "We have a new coaching staff coming in here, which should open things up for Weigman. If he can stay healthy and build on what we saw last year in those first four games, he could be special.”
With the Aggies expected to have a potent offense, Weigman aims to climb up the 2025 NFL Draft rankings. Miller's latest mock draft projects him as a first-round pick going to the Los Angeles Rams at No. 19.
Texas A&M's Conner Weigman wows at Manning Passing Academy
Conner Weigman made a strong impression at the Manning Passing Academy this week. Hosted by NFL legend Peyton Manning and his family, the event featured over a dozen college quarterbacks, including Texas's Quinn Ewers and Georgia's Carson Beck. Weigman displayed his improved accuracy during a few friendly competitions.
The Aggies have been one of the more talented teams in the SEC lately. They had a great recruiting day on Tuesday. The team secured commitments from two top-notch recruits: Marco Jones, an edge rusher who picked the Aggies over USC, Michigan, and Texas; and Chase Sims, a defensive lineman who chose Texas A&M over 2023 national runner-up Washington, LSU, and TCU.
