Sherrone Moore was announced as the new coach of the Michigan Wolverines earlier this year. But as On3.com has revealed, the contract hasn't been finalized between the two parties yet.

Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel told the publication:

“They just don’t happen overnight, and there are things that have popped up,” Manuel said. “But they’re being worked on. Sherrone knows our commitment to him; we know his commitment to us, and same thing with the assistant coaches."

Unsurprisingly, college football fans have responded to this revelation on social media. Here are some of their reactions.

These fans are surprised that a program as big and as prestigious as the Michigan Wolverines could allow this to happen.

"How is this even possible? Is he not getting paid?" Asked this fan.
"How does this even happen lol," asked another fan.
"Other schools put contracts together in a few days when they land on someone lol," wrote a third fan.

These fans believe that Sherrone Moore will not be the Wolverines' head coach for long:

"he will be gone by next season," predicted this fan.
"They bout the pull the rug from under him 🤣" said another fan.
"Oh they are ready ready to move on if he slips up," said a third fan.

These fans believe that Moore is only there to take the punishment for any results in the NCAA investigation into the Wolverines' sign-stealing scandal.

"He knows he’s a fall guy and he wants some guaranteed money when he gets fired," said this fan.
"With a looming hammer and continuous shots at the NCAA by Harbaugh, Moore, unfortunately, is going to have a lot of punishment dropped onto him. Poor guy!" said another fan.
"I assume the things that 'popped up' are in relation to Connor Stallions. They might have to get rid of Moore when information gets released and the punishment is handed down," said a third fan.

Finally, these fans have pointed to the timing of this news, with Michigan playing the Texas Longhorns this weekend.

"This breaking with Texas coming to town Saturday seems sus👀😅" said this fan.
"That’s a real questionable move with Texas coming to the big house this week," noted another fan.
"Wow. Gotta love not being signed to a contract going into a weekend vs Texas," said a third fan.

How has Sherrone Moore fared as Michigan coach so far?

Sherrone Moore had a successful debut in his first official outing as Michigan's coach. His Wolverines defeated the Fresno State Bulldogs 30-10.

However, the first major challenge of Moore's tenure and the first challenge the Wolverines have had for a while comes this weekend, where they face the No.3-ranked Texas Longhorns.

The Longhorns are the stronger team in the game at the moment and are in the conversation for the national championship, something that Michigan is not.

The news that Moore doesn't actually have a contract has only added another layer of controversy to the Michigan program going into this big game. This is without addressing the elephant in the room, the ongoing investigation by the NCAA for the Connor Stallions sign-stealing scandal.
