No. 23 Colorado Buffaloes superstar Travis Hunter has sent a fair warning to the No. 17 BYU Cougars ahead of their Alamo Bowl game against the Buffs on Dec. 28. The two-way phenom picked up the Bednarik Award, Biletnikoff Award, and the Walter Camp Award on Thursday night and told reporters that he has already begun planning for CU's bowl game.
When asked whether he watched any BYU films this season, Hunter responded:
"When I was flying here, What you think I was doing? Yeah, I’ve been watching them all seasons."
Hunter will likely play his final collegiate game against BYU before declaring for the 2025 NFL draft. Based on his recent comments on the upcoming Alamo Bowl game, the versatile Colorado star appears to be still focused on giving his best for the Buffs.
After No. 23 Colorado beat Oklahoma State 52-0 in its final regular season game on Nov. 29, Coach Deion Sanders confirmed that his big stars would play in the Buffs's bowl game. This meant that Hunter and Coach Prime's sons, Shedeur and Shilo, would be in contention to participate.
"We have a plethora of seniors that are pro-bound, and guess what? Every last one of them are going to play," Deion Sanders said. "We don't tap out. We don't sit out. This is a blessing to play this wonderful game. Our kids are going to play.
"We got a kid that's probably going to pick up — not probably, what am I talking about? — it's a fact that he's going to pick up the Heisman Trophy this week, and he's going to play."
While there is still time for Colorado's bowl game, Hunter will have eyes on another top college award, having been named as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
Travis Hunter is the frontrunner to win the Heisman Trophy this year
Travis Hunter was named as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy on Monday. He faces competition from Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, Miami quarterback Cam Ward and Oregon signal-caller Dillon Gabriel.
However, many fans and analysts believe Hunter is leading the race for the Heisman. The Colorado star tallied 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns on 92 catches as a receiver and also posted 31 tackles, 11 passes deflected, four interceptions and one forced fumble as a defensive back this season.
The Heisman winner will be announced on Saturday.
