On Sunday, Travis Hunter called it a day on Instagram due to backlash and criticism of his fiancée following a viral controversial video. Hours after that, his fiancée Leanna Lenee followed suit and deactivated her Instagram account too.
A video shared by Akademiks TV on X on Sunday featured a woman resembling Leanna Lenee twerking with an unidentified man, sparking outrage among fans. This followed the backlash after a social media post revealed a dollar-sign "$" tattoo on her ring finger.
The ongoing public backlash has led to the deactivation of Instagram accounts by Hunter and Lenee, who are staying away from the public eye and pressure. While the criticisms continue on social media, they can now free themselves from the pressure coming with it.
Travis Hunter continues to defend her fiancée
Amid weeks of relentless criticism on social media, Travis Hunter unwaveringly defended Leanna Lenee against the mounting backlash. The Colorado two-way star believes critics have been unfair in their view of her fiancée.
During a candid Twitch stream recently, Hunter directly confronted the negativity, asserting with conviction that he knows his fiancée better than anyone else. He made it known that he refuses to let the hate dictate their narrative.
"I know what I got,” Hunter said. “I know my girl. My girl's been with me for five years. Y'all are just now starting to talk about me and just now starting to be with me. Come on, man."
Hunter has firmly continued to urge fans to stop the criticism and leave Leanna alone. He believes the actions of the critics are borne out of hate for him and his fiancée.
Travis Hunter notes the criticism is affecting Leanna Lenee
In a Twitch stream following the criticism about the dollar-sign tattoo on her ring finger, Travis Hunter made known the effect the backlash has had on himself and Leanna Lennee. This played a role in the eventual account deactivation.
“Y’all hate on me then you go hate on my girl,” Hunter said. “I feel the same thing that she feels. We’re inseparable. We’re with each other. If she’s hurting I’m hurting [and vice versa]..."
“She’s still sleeping. She’s lump. You know when you’re hurt you just cry yourself to sleep and you be gone. She’s drunk OD amount tonight for no reason.”
As the social backlash continues to grow, Hunter has left no doubt about his commitment to Leanna, making it clear that he is in it for the long haul. The two are scheduled to get married next year, just ahead of Hunter’s rookie season in the NFL.
