Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders is dealing with an injury and won't play in Week 3. Shilo is the son of Deion Sanders, the Colorado coach.
Ahead of Colorado's Week 3 road game against Colorado State on Saturday night, let's take a look at Shilo's injury.
How long is Shilo Sanders out for?
Sanders is dealing with a forearm injury and underwent surgery. He will be out for two to three weeks.
He went to the locker room after tackling Huskers running back Dante Dowdell on a run play in the first quarter of Colorado's loss to Nebraska. He did not return to the game.
Coach Sanders, however, says his son is one of the fastest healers he's ever seen and expects Shilo to make a full recovery.
"I've never seen nothing like it, the healing ability," Sanders said, via ESPN.
It is a big loss for Colorado, as Sanders is a key part of the Buffaloes defense.
The safety recorded nine tackles, including one for a loss in Colorado's Week 1 win over North Dakota State. Sanders started all 11 games for Colorado in 2023 and led the team in tackles.
Deion Sanders says team is prepared for Colorado State rivalry game
Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes will go on the road to play the Colorado State Rams on Saturday.
Heading into the game, Sanders says his team is prepared for the rivalry matchup.
"They know. I mean, all these kids have social media handles, and I'm pretty sure they know. They knew what time it was when they came here. It was explained by the players we retained from last season about how important these rivalry games are. But honestly, to tell you the truth, these games are truly important but every game is a huge game for us. Every week is a huge game for us," Sanders said, via The Coloradoan.
Colorado is a seven-point favorite to defeat Colorado State on the road on Saturday night.
