The Transfer Portal has become a core part of the college football landscape and this will be featured in EA Sports College Football 25. The concept has brought radical change to the realm, with athletes switching programs seamlessly every season. EA Sports wants to bring this experience into the game and here’s a look at how the transfer portal works on Dynasty Mode.

How does the transfer portal work on EA Sports College Football 25?

As it is in modern college football, Players of College Football 25 will be able to recruit through the transfer portal. EA Sports promises to bring in a transfer portal experience that feels “authentically unpredictable,” ensuring a supreme level of excitement in the Dynasty Mode.

The transfer portal is scheduled to open at the start of offseason recruiting. However, players across several programs would have a decision prior to its opening. The window is open for just four weeks and transfer activities occur during this period.

“Offseason recruiting lasts four weeks in total and transfers will make their final decisions at the end of it on National Signing Day,” EA Sports said (via Athlon Sports). “Just like in real life, this is a chaotic four weeks where players are committing quickly and team rosters are rapidly changing. Teams will have to constantly make quick decisions, sometimes with limited information.”

Every player on the transfer portal receives a star rating based on their overall rating and similar to high school prospects, they are ranked nationally, by state, and by position. This provides players of College Football 25 with basic details about their potential transfer targets.

Meeting up with the needs of transfer portal players

There's a reason a player has decided to quit their current program and enter the transfer portal. So, there's a need to meet up with their needs and deal-breakers, which led them to the portal. Transfers won't have the same Ideal Pitch as they do as high school recruits.

“Since people change over time, transfers are assigned a new Ideal Pitch and motivations,” EA Sports wrote (via Athlon Sports). “Every player in the transfer portal has the same dealbreaker that caused them to transfer originally. Their new Ideal Pitch will include their dealbreaker motivation and it will be relevant to transfers and their unique needs.”

Transfers will assess each school and create a top schools list, mirroring the process for high school prospects. It’s worth noting that players of College Football 25 won't have the opportunity to communicate with transfers if their program fails to make their top five schools after evaluation.
