The COVID-19 period made a whole lot of families enjoy more time together, and Nick Saban and his family also enjoyed this opportunity. The coach was tested for the novel virus during the 2022 college football season, leading him to work from home during that period.

Those times were one of the best for Terry Saban in her more than four decades of marriage to the legendary coach. She narrated how enjoyable the period was for her in an interview with WMTV 13 in December 2020, as she stayed much closer to her husband.

“That time at home with Nick, I almost wouldn't trade it because, in 40-some years of being married, it's the first time that I really got a firsthand view,” Miss Terry said.

Miss Terry also disclosed how she got to know more about Nick Saban's coaching duty at Alabama. The coach worked from home after testing positive for COVID-19, giving his wife a clear insight into his work as a college football coach.

“Our office is up above the kitchen and it's open," Miss Terry said. “ I could hear every meeting, every practice, hear the interaction between Nick and the coaches, and Nick and the players. It really made me appreciate what his days are like.”

Miss Terry’s role in ensuring Nick Saban works seamlessly

Working from home was something strange to many when they were forced to do it in 2020. It sounds even more absurd for a football coach to work in the corner of his home. However, Miss Terry took the responsibility of ensuring his work went seamless despite the situation.

“I could be there in between to say, ‘Hurry up, come have a snack or quick dinner is ready or take your medicine,” Miss Terry said.

In her interview with WMTV 13, Miss Terry also explained how Nick Saban reacted to the bad plays from his players while watching from home. The coach couldn't help but act like he was at the stadium with them.

"I'd hear this booming almost like, you know how people describe a tornado coming and they are like, a train, what's that sound coming? I'd stop and say, ‘What was that?' and realized it was Nick screaming at the TV as if he was trying to get across to his players, ‘You shouldn't be playing that.'”

Overall, the COVID-19 period offered a whole new experience to Nick Saban and his wife in their marriage and work at the University of Alabama. Despite the challenges along the way, those moments have become unforgettable for the two.
