The Colorado Buffaloes are expected to lose star quarterback Shedeur Sanders and his brother, safety Shilo Sanders, to the 2025 NFL draft after narrowly missing out on the Big 12 championship game. Before their fate was sealed, Shedeur and the Buffs put on an offensive masterclass when they beat the Oklahoma State Cowboys 52-0 in Week 14.
In a video posted on Shilo's YouTube channel on Sunday from the brothers' Senior Day ceremony, their mother, Pilar Sanders, revealed her emotions at her sons playing their last home college football game.
"I'm so excited, I'm so emotional," Pilar said (03:45). "I'm kinda said, but yeah, I almost wanna cry."
Further into the video, Coach Prime walked with Shilo and Shedeur for the ceremony before Pilar hugged both of her sons.
Coach Prime also emotional about Shilo and Shedeur Sanders departing
Pilar Sanders was not the only parent feeling emotional about the impending departures of Shilo and Shedeur Sanders. The charismatic Coach Prime walked with them across Folsom Field for Senior Day and in a pregame interview, he talked about his feelings.
"Tough, man," Deion said on Saturday. "I can't even explain the emotions. It was tough. It's kind of emotional. Last time at home with several of my kids and my seniors. It's tough. Tough on a coach who loves his kids."
Deion Sanders will also lose Heisman contender Travis Hunter, whom he has referred to as one of his sons several times in the past. During an emotional postgame speech delivered in the locker room and posted on the Buffs' Instagram page, Coach Prime praised the seniors who helped him build Colorado into a 9-3 team.
"Hey seniors, I'm proud of y'all, I'm proud of y'all," Sanders said. "I love y'all, I appreciate y'all. Some of y'all it hurts my heart to see that y'all leaving.
"It truly got me emotional before the game because I can't fathom going out there in that stadium without y'all because of how much y'all mean to me and how much y'all mean to this program. Y'all helped to shape what we have now is a real Buffs nation."
Shedeur Sanders has been tabbed as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft by ESPN's Matt Miller on the network's mock draft on Nov. 24.
