Aside from his reputation as a seasoned college football coach, Hugh Freeze is also known for the love he possesses for his family. The coach has always emphasized the importance of his wife, Jill, and their three daughters, Ragan, Jordan and Madison, in shaping his career.
Moving across a host of college football programs over the years, Freeze has often discussed how his family stood by him in the most difficult times. The coach has gone through some public scrutiny and professional setbacks throughout his career, but he always had his four ladies around him.
On Monday, Hugh Freeze shared a picture of himself with his wife and three daughters at Jordan-Hare Stadium on X/Twitter. The picture was taken following Auburn's Week 3 game against New Mexico on Saturday, and Freeze used it to once again appreciate his family’s support:
“There are no words that adequately describe the feelings and love of the Freeze 5. I couldn’t be more blessed by their unbelievable love!!!” Freeze said.
Hugh Freeze reviews New Mexico game
Auburn secured its second win of the season at home against New Mexico on Saturday. The Tigers won their Week 3 encounter 45-19, bouncing back from the disappointing loss to Cal a week earlier. Freeze saw some positives in the non-conference matchup, sharing his thoughts during his media availability ahead of Saturday's game versus the Arkansas Razorbacks (via Auburn Wire):
“Offensively, 40-plus points is good, 7.3 yards a play and 15 explosives, so solid there,” Freeze said. “Negatives, we turned the ball over. Can’t do that. And we weren’t great on third down, even though a couple of those were skewed a little bit with the last drive and the Hail Mary.
“So we’ve got to just continue to try to improve and be who we’re going to be there. We kind of sabotaged ourselves on the one red zone [possession] that we didn’t score a touchdown," he added.
Freeze anticipates a more productive offense this season as Auburn navigates a pretty tough schedule. The Tigers are slated to face Oklahoma, Georgia, Missouri, Texas A&M and Alabama in their league schedule this season.
Hugh Freeze anticipates a tough game against Arkansas
Auburn opens its conference schedule against Arkansas in Week 4 and Hugh Freeze expects a pretty tough game against the Razorbacks. He expressed his concern about Sam Pittman’s team on both sides of the ball:
“Well, a good football team that’s well coached," Freeze said. "They are deep at some places, and they look like an SEC football team, particularly the O-line, running backs and tight ends. The quarterback’s very, very dangerous. Big defensive line, the inside guys are huge.”
Freeze led the Tigers to an emphatic victory against the Razorbacks last season, winning 48-10 in Fayetteville. He will hope to replicate something like that at home this season to start their SEC play on a winning note.
