The No. 14 Alabama Crimson Tide (6-2, 3-2 Southeastern Conference) is coming off a great Week 9 after defeating the No. 21 Missouri Tigers (6-2, 2-2) on Oct. 26.
The Tide were able to assert their dominance early and eventually registered a 34-0 victory. One of the examples was a play where Tigers defensive tackle Kristian Williams ripped the helmet off of Alabama's offensive lineman Tyler Booker, leading to a crucial face mask penalty.
Williams tried to go after the Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe in the first quarter but got stopped by Booker. The Missouri defensive tackle grabbed Booker's face mask and ripped it off his head, resulting in a 15-yard penalty. The mistake would lead to the Tide going down the field to score a field goal.
Booker appeared on "The Next Round" to discuss his feelings about the penalty and shared that he was excited after getting his helmet ripped off.
"It didn't hurt at all, and actually, I wasn't pissed. I was excited because I knew that I had already won the mental battle against my opponent," Booker said. "For him to rip my helmet off in only the third play of the game, I knew I had him where I wanted him."
Booker continued to take a dig at Williams by saying he believed the defensive tackle was being inconsiderate to his teammates.
"He cost his team 15 yards, so that just tells you how much he cares about his team," Booker said.
Tyler Booker earns co-SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honor
Booker was unfazed by the face mask penalty and was able to keep the defensive away from Milroe.
His performance led to Alabama getting 486 total yards for the impressive win over the Tigers. SEC announced on X that he was the Co-SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. He shares the honors with Auburn Tigers offensive lineman Izavion Miller.
Booker expressed gratitude after the announcement on X, thanking his coaches and teammates.
"The glory goes to God! Couldn’t have done it without my Coaches and Brothers! Roll Tide Roll," Booker wrote.
Alabama have a bye for Week 10
Tyler Booker was essential to the Crimson Tide's offensive and could be looked upon to step up in their next game, against No. 16 LSU Tigers (6-2, 3-1) on Nov. 9. Alabama will enjoy an open week this weekend. The break gives them time to prepare for the SEC matchup as they look to end the season strong.
