Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders had high praise for his teammate, Travis Hunter, following Hunter’s historic Heisman Trophy win on Saturday. Sanders, known for his candidness, admired the two-way star during a new YouTube episode of “2Legendary” released on Tuesday.
“I didn't have to turn up there and I was close to stage,” Sanders said. “So I ran on stage.”
“Everything he [has] done up to this point in his career and it's crazy how people don't respect, what he did. I got the utmost respect for him.”
Hunter is now Colorado’s second-ever Heisman winner. Sanders highlighted the significance of Hunter’s accolades this season.
“Now he's able to benefit from everything, he's able to win that Biletnikoff,” he added. “He's able to win that Heisman and win all the awards he won. So I'm just happy I was able to be a part of it.”
Junior cornerback and wide receiver Hunter cemented his place in history as the 90th recipient of the Heisman Memorial Trophy. His standout season also earned him the Walter Camp Award, the Bednarik Award, and the Biletnikoff Award, making it one of the most decorated campaigns in college football history.

Travis Hunter became the fifth player in history to win the Heisman Trophy as a full-time receiver, amassing 2,231 points in the final voting. Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty finished second with 2,017 points, while Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel secured third place with 516 points. Miami quarterback Cam Ward rounded out the top four with 229 points.
Hunter’s two-way dominance for the Colorado Buffaloes wowed voters, who awarded him 552 first-place votes out of 928. The voting pool included 145 media members across six regions and 57 former Heisman Trophy winners.

Hunter, a standout from Suwanee, Georgia, showcased his unmatched versatility throughout the season. He was named the 2024 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-Big 12 first-team honors as both a defensive back and a wide receiver.
On defense, Hunter posted 31 tackles, 11 pass breakups, four interceptions and a conference-best 15 passes defended, which tied for fifth nationally. He also forced a game-winning fumble, adding to his resume as a clutch performer.
