Ole Miss Rebels' cornerback Jackson Jones has decided to enter the transfer portal. He announced this decision in a heartfelt post on social media:
"I would like to thank coach Lane Kiffin and the rest of my coaching staff for the amazing opportunity to be part of the program here at Ole Miss. I have entered the transfer portal as a grad student with two years of NCAA eligibility."

Jones had been with the Rebels since 2023, when he arrived in Oxford as a non-scholarship player and participated in some drills with the team. However, he was never able to play a down for the Rebels, and this may have been a factor in his decision to transfer.
Before his move to Ole Miss, Jones was with the Stoney Brook Seahawks, an FCS program based outside New York City.
But Jones wanted a change and decided to enter the transfer portal for the first time, where he would end up with the Rebels. Coach Kiffin was a key part of Jones' decision to make his way down to Mississippi.
"Coach Kiffin has to be the most intelligent coach I’ve seen in action," he added. "He is the kind of coach that the whole room is 100% attentive to when he walks in. I have full trust in him and his methods to take this team far for the years to come. I am thankful to be a part of this team with him in charge.”
How will Jackson Jones bring teams to him?
There is not much of a market for a cornerback who has never played a snap in over two years. This means that Jackson Jones needs to have something else to try to get programs to want him to transfer there.
Luckily, Jones does have this. He went viral a few years ago for his speed.
He spoke about this attribute in an interview earlier in the year, saying:
"Speed has always been my top attribute. Running a 4.3 40-yard dash is something I want to use to help on the field. Speed is everything in the game, on offense/defense/special teams. Wherever I am on the field, I want to be the fastest to the ball and make things happen."
While the next program Jackson Jones will play for with his remaining years of eligibility is unknown, it is unlikely to be a power four school and may have to return to the FCS.
However, they will be getting a player who is quick and could benefit their team.
