Former Ohio State star Justin Fields praised his former teammate, Jameson Williams, who transferred to Alabama after two under-the-radar seasons with the Buckeyes. During an appearance on the “St. Brown Podcast,” Fields revealed that Ohio State wasn't fully utilizing Williams' talent.

"They were playing with Jamo... I'm not gonna cap. They were playing with Jamo."

Fields explained that Williams was primarily used as a decoy to create opportunities for other receivers such as Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.

“He's the alert versus the quarters coverage or something like that. But they really weren't messing with Jamo, but I'm glad he left. And he went crazy at Bama,” Fields added.

Williams' decision to transfer to Alabama turned out to be a game changer. At 'Bama, he exploded with 79 catches for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns. His performance didn’t go unnoticed, and the Detroit Lions came calling. They selected him 12th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Now a cog in the well-oiled Lions machine, Williams is thriving alongside Amon-Ra St. Brown, proving that the move to Tuscaloosa was the right call.

Will Justin Fields play QB1 at Pittsburgh Steelers?

Leaving his Ohio State days behind, Fields is playing his heart out in Pittsburgh, and the buzz around the Steelers' training camp suggests he could snag the QB1 spot from franchise quarterback Russell Wilson.

While Fields was a star at the Buckeyes from 2019 to 2022, his tenure in the NFL has been rocky. He was first drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 2021 NFL Draft and then shipped off to the Steelers in 2024.

However, as of late, Fields has been turning heads with his performances and is seen as a potential long shot to dethrone Wilson. NFL analyst Louis Riddick, during a segment on "The Dan Patrick Show," said:

“I have a feeling, based on my conversations, that if Justin continues to ascend during the games like he has during practice, he's going to start Week 1.”

Fields’ NFL journey has been a roller coaster, but he has always had potential to be a franchise quarterback. With 6,674 passing yards, 40 touchdowns and 2,220 rushing yards over three seasons, he can be a long-term solution to the Steelers’ problems.
