The Colorado Buffaloes have been playing at an outstanding level this season, with much of the success riding on quarterback Shedeur Sanders. He has completed 250 of 343 passes (72.9%) for 2,882 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions while also running for four touchdowns.
However, as the 2025 NFL draft approaches and Sanders continues to generate interest from numerous NFL teams, draft analyst Dane Brugler of The Athletic joined Nate Tice on the "Football 301 Podcast" and expressed his doubts:
"I'm not impressed by the physical traits. ... His arm his B-level. I think in terms of quarterbacking style, he reminds me of Jordan Love without the high-end physical traits. ... I want to see Shedeur against a defense that I respect. The two best defenses that Colorado has faced this year, Kansas State and Nebraska, both losses, and both games, Shedeur didn't handle himself the best."
Brugler suggested that while the Colorado offensive line has struggled with sacks, many of them are due to Sanders' decision-making, who has been sacked 28 times this season:
"A lot of that is working the pocket, and understanding where the rush is coming from. He's not a bad athlete, he's a good athlete. ... But he takes too many sacks. The offense of line for Colorado is gonna get brought up endlessly throughout the draft process, but a number of these sacks are on the quarterback. So, it's only going to get tougher against the NFL's speed.
"I think Shedeur is a good quarterback, but I have plenty of concerns about what he's doing and how it's going to work at the next level. I don't have conviction this is a guy that you're going to be able to plug in and all of a sudden he's going to start leading my team to wins."
What NFL team makes the most sense to draft Shedeur Sanders?
With the draft approaching, teams are beginning to shape their quarterback needs. One team that continues to stand out to pick Shedeur Sanders is the Las Vegas Raiders.
Heading into Week 11, the Raiders hold the fifth selection. Their quarterback situation has been questionable with Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew III struggling. However, the team has some weapons with tight end Brock Bowers and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers on the roster.
With Las Vegas' appetite for stars, drafting Shedeur Sanders would make sense from a marketing and player standpoint.
