Deion Sanders was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011. The legendary cornerback played 14 solid seasons in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, and a host of other franchises. It was an honor well-deserved for the Florida State alum.
At the time of his induction, Deion Sanders' wife Pilar was interviewed by popular celebrity interviewer Crystal Byrd at the Hall of Fame event in 2011. Opening the short interview in Canton, Ohio, Byrd asked her how she was feeling seeing her husband getting inducted.
“Unimaginable,” Pilar answered. "It's more than what I ever even thought of, more than what we could even dream of. I'm so proud of Deion. I'm so proud of him making it to the Hall of Fame.”
“It's exciting for the entire family to be here. Our children are here, our mothers are here and of course, we're here with all of our kids, seven charter buses deep … [For] our children to witness their father at this time being enshrined is just so amazing. It's wonderful.”
Deion and Pilar Sanders separated a few years after the Colorado coach’s induction to the Hall of Fame. Nonetheless, they both continued to play their role in raising their children.
Deion Sanders appreciated Pilar Sanders and his kid in his Hall of Fame speech
In his Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement speech in 2011, Deion Sanders expressed his appreciation to a lot of people who played a role in his success. He took time to recognize Pilar Sanders and his five children on a special note while enthusiastically delivering the speech.
"This game taught me there are things in life you can't do prematurely,” Deion said. “They call it offsides. In life, it's just life. Throughout this game, I've gained five wonderful, beautiful kids. Deiondra, Deion jr, Shilo, Sheduer, Shelomi, with all my teams’ jerseys on, I love you. Thank you, babies.”
"My beautiful wife, Pilar, who has sacrificed and put her dreams and ambitions on hold to make sure I achieve mine. Thank you, baby, for all you do and for all you've put up with me because I know I'm not easy to deal with.”
The induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame was one of Deion Sanders' biggest achievements in the world of sports. It's a testament to his exploits on the gridiron during his day in the NFL. Sanders is widely considered one of the greatest cornerback in the history of the league.
