Kahlil Benson transfers back to Indiana after an up-and-down season in Colorado
Kahlil Benson spent one season with the Colorado Buffaloes. He joined the Buffaloes following the 2023 season but struggled to find a rhythm throughout the year. He failed to settle into a position, spending time at right guard, left guard, and right tackle.
He played 405 snaps this season because he only appeared in nine games due to injuries. Benson started the first four games of the season at right guard.
Before coming to Colorado, Benson had success during his two seasons with the Indiana Hoosiers. In the 2022 and 2023 regular seasons, Benson appeared in 24 games for the Hoosiers, 17 of which he started. In that time, he played a total of 1,423 offensive snaps.
He's returning to a Hoosiers team that improved dramatically this season. It qualified for the college football playoffs, and while losing in the first round, they had their best season in a long time.
The offensive line was the team's biggest weakness. It features left tackle Carter Smith, left guard Drew Evans, and right guard Bray Lynch. Additionally, Indiana added Ohio State offensive lineman Zen Michalski in the transfer portal.
