Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers fans' hopes of a College Football Playoff run were decimated on Saturday by the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tigers suffered an embarrassing 42-13 loss to Kalen DeBoer and his men.

It was a tough day to lose at Tiger Stadium, with 300 eager recruits in attendance. LSU's performance sparked frustration from fans. Coach Brian Kelly also admitted he failed in a crunch Week 11 matchup.

"What we thought would be an exciting evening turned out to be a disappointing evening. I take ownership in not getting our guys in the right position tonight," Kelly admitted.

Despite having the luxury of an open week to strategize, LSU’s defense couldn’t contain Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, who rushed for four touchdowns—a repeat performance from last season.

Kelly shared fans’ bewilderment. He said:

"If you’re watching the game, you’re like, ‘what have these guys been doing for two weeks?’ We have a scheme to stop the quarterback. We did not get it done.”

The loss stings more as LSU’s season drifts toward a bowl game with little purpose. Once contenders for a top-12 playoff spot, LSU watches as SEC rivals eye the playoffs. Kelly also added:

"We didn’t play to the standard of LSU Football. That’s on me," again taking responsibility for the disappointing outcome.

Brian Kelly understands that fans won't be happy

The LSU-Alabama game turned chaotic as frustrated LSU fans began pelting the field with water bottles and debris. This halted the game in the third quarter. The outburst followed a controversial facemask penalty on LSU's Sai'vion Jones, overturning a potential sack of Alabama QB Jalen Milroe.

It's a play that would’ve likely forced a punt. Instead, the Crimson Tide capitalized and scored four plays later, extending their lead.

Brian Kelly empathized with the fans' frustration:

"Look, if I was in the stands, I wouldn't be happy. I'm not advocating that you throw anything on the field. But I think it's like any other venue; I think you should use good judgment.”
“But I wouldn't be happy watching us play either. I wasn't pleased with the way I coached or played either."

The loss leaves LSU (6-3) reeling. The defense failed to contain Milroe, who racked 185 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
