Colt McCoy gets inducted into the Texas Athletic Hall of Honor on Friday, Sept. 20. The former quarterback joins 11 other former Longhorns athletes, including football stars Alex Okafor and Marquise Goodwin, to receive one of the greatest athletic honors in the university.
Former Texas football coach Mack Brown congratulated Colt McCoy earlier on Friday. The coach made a video online to felicitate McColt, Okafor and Goodwin, appreciating their immense contribution to Texas football during their time with the program.
“Colt, this is your old coach Mack Brown congratulating you on one of the highest honors you can get at the University of Texas, being inducted into the Texas Hall of Honor,” Brown said in the video. “Alex, Colt, Marquise Goodwin, love you guys.”
“You were great players and won a whole lot of games and brought pride and joy to so many Longhorns and Longhorns fans. But appreciate who you are off the field even more. Love and appreciate you guys, congratulations. I can't be there tonight but I will be there in spirit.”

Colt McCoy's career after retirement from football
Colt McCoy announced his retirement from the NFL in August after 14 years in the league. The former quarterback took a broadcasting role at NBC, marking an endeavor for him. He is slated to work as an analyst and continue to “Big Ten College Countdown.”
“College football has always held a special place in my heart. With the expansion of the Big Ten and a new era of college football, it is the perfect time to join NBC Sports,” McCoy said. “I can’t wait to share in the passion, excitement, and competitive spirit every week.”
McCoy had a brilliant college football career at Texas, breaking several school records and winning major honors. He graduated with a degree in Sports Management at the university and was a third-round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft. His No. 12 jersey was retired by the school.
