Miami quarterback Cam Ward engaged in some hilarious banter with Colorado signal-caller Shedeur Sanders over a Facetime session. In a video posted by Walk Off Media on Sunday, the two Heisman contenders discussed their respective regular season runs and exchanged some friendly jibes at each other.
In one instance, Shedeur was heard saying he wasn't too focused on stats while suggesting that Ward was being selfish. [Timestamp: 2:08]
"Why would you hope their offense do good? I know you. I'm a team guy," Shedeur said.
Ward, who remained cool as a cucumber, had a hilarious comeback.
"I won 10 games. I won 10 games. You're on single digits, man," Ward said, in reference to Shedeur leading CU to a 9-3 record.
Shedeur finished the regular season with 3,926 passing yards, 35 touchdowns, and eight interceptions for Colorado. He also rushed for four touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Ward racked up 4,123 yards, 36 touchdowns, and threw seven interceptions for Miami. The Hurricanes QB rushed for 196 yards and four touchdowns. Ward led Miami to a 10-2 (6-2 ACC) record.
Shedeur Sanders wins the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award
On Friday, Shedeur Sanders was named the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award winner. The Colorado quarterback was at an awards dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore when he picked up the accolade.
"I just want to thank God for this opportunity," Shedeur said, adding, "It was tough looking back, just being at HBCU, coming to Power 5. People don’t respect how you played, they don’t respect the things you did not because of me, but because of Pops, because of Dad. They just didn’t like him.”
Shedeur is likely to play his final game collegiate game when Colorado faces Big 12 rival BYU in the Alamo Bowl on December 28. The Buffs quarterback is expected to declare for the 2025 NFL draft, where many believe he is a projected first-round pick.
