Kiyan Anthony expresses no pressure to commit to Syracuse
Considering his father's connection with Syracuse, it's expected that there will be some pressure on him to commit to the school. However, Kiyan Anthony said:
“It's no pressure going there. I know wherever I go, I'm just gonna go there and play my game," Kiyan told On3 regarding committing to his father’s alma mater, Syracuse.
"But my dad always tells me, 'Don't feel like you got to go to Syracuse because I went there. Really look into these colleges and choose where you want to go.' So, that's what I'm really looking forward to doing.”
The Orange is one of the surviving schools after the four-star prospect narrowed down his list to six. The other five are Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, USC and Rutgers.
Analyst believes Syracuse is the favorite for Kiyan Anthony
While Kiyan Anthony made it known that he is not under pressure to commit to Syracuse, the school is still considered the favorite. This is according to 247 Sports national basketball director Eric Bossi, who sees him taking on his father's legacy at the program.
“Maybe something crazy happens here but I think him ending up anywhere other than Syracuse for school would be one of the bigger surprises we've ever seen in recruiting," Bossi said.
“The favorite has to be Syracuse, right? Big believer that kids don't go to schools where their dad is a coach or they don't go play for a school where their father was a legend. I don't believe they do it until they actually do and it very rarely happens.”
There's a lot of anticipation, as Anthony is expected to make his decision soon. He is set to bring an influence similar to that of Bronny James to the college basketball landscape.
