Billy Napier continues to remain under pressure at Florida following the disappointing Week 1 loss to Miami. The coach has lost the support of the Gainesville fanbase, and the Week 2 win against Football Championship Subdivision program Samford wasn't enough to win it back.

Florida fans are pushing to have Napier fired as soon as possible. Fraternity houses across the university community seem to be on the same page in ensuring the coach's exit from the program, showcasing the level of pressure that comes with the Gators' job.

Frat signs are now circulating the internet with messages of Billy Napier to be fired. That undoubtedly mounts significant pressure on not only the coach but the university athletic department. With a 12-16 record, Florida fans have lost confidence in the coach.

Florida athletic department drummed support for Billy Napier during the offseason

Despite going 11-14 in his first two seasons, the Florida athletic department had a lot of support for Billy Napier ahead of the 2024 college football season. The school's athletic director expressed his full confidence in the coach, believing he can succeed in Gainesville.

“I believe in Billy. I believe in him as a person; I believe in him as a leader; I believe in him as a coach, the way he evaluates people. I just believe in him. He’s a guy who if given enough time he’s going to be successful.”

It remains to be seen how much the athletic department supports the coach amid fan pressure. According to reports, Florida will owe Napier around $25 million if he's fired by the university this season.

Billy Napier concentrated on turning things around

Turning the situation around in Gainesville is paramount to Billy Napier at the moment, and he's refusing to get distracted by the noise around the university. In his press conference session ahead of the Stanford game, he noted that his concentration is on the rest of the season.

“We can flip the script and kind of move on,” Napier said Wednesday night. “It’s so key, whether you have failure or success, that it doesn’t affect your attitude or approach.
"We’re battling human nature on both ends of the spectrum. Sometimes you win and you’re sky-high and you get to thinking you’re better than you are, and sometimes you have failure and you’re getting beat up.”

Florida still has to contend with powerhouse programs like Tennessee, Georgia, Texas, LSU, Ole Miss and Florida State, making their path forward even more challenging. The Gators tough schedule has obviously played a role in the reduced confidence in Napier.
