Notre Dame football fans, brace yourselves! Marcus Freeman’s Fighting Irish are set to dazzle in the upcoming 2024 CFB season with a stunning new look. Unveiled on ESPN’s "First Take," the new uniforms feature a gold Notre Dame monogram on the sleeve, replacing the old white logo.
The new Fighting Irish uniform also sports a gold Under Armour logo centered at the top of the chest, moving away from the previous white logo on the upper left. These changes bring a fresh, modern twist to the iconic Notre Dame look, blending tradition with contemporary flair.
But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Coach Marcus Freeman also made headlines off the field. He’s become a regular at Major League Baseball games, throwing ceremonial first pitches.
Next on his list? The New York Yankees, who’ve invited Freeman to take the mound before their game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. Freeman won’t be going solo; he’s bringing a star-studded crew including Steve Angeli, Jordan Clark, Beaux Collins and Howard Cross III.
Notre Dame Stadium in Top 5 spots in football stadium rankings
Notre Dame Stadium has once again proved its legendary status, being ranked No. 4 in ESPN’s top 25 college football stadiums. The home of the Fighting Irish scored 175 points in a survey of 14 ESPN college football writers.
This ranking placed it ahead of Penn State’s Beaver Stadium, which had 172 points, and just behind Michigan Stadium by seven points. In the first spot was LSU's home, Tiger Stadium, followed by the Rose Bowl and then Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
Constructed under the guidance of the iconic Knute Rockne (Notre Dame coach for 13 years from 1918 to 1930), the ranking comes shortly after the Fighting Irish's Stadium was listed 21st in EA Sports’ “College Football 25” game for the toughest stadiums. As ESPN’s Adam Rittenburg said:
"Since opening in 1930, Notre Dame Stadium has hosted some of college football's most significant teams, players, coaches and moments. But the venue is known as much for what lies just beyond its northern edge as what's inside. "
The Fighting Irish have an impressive 40-5 home record over the last seven seasons. Last season, the Fighting Irish’s only home defeat was a narrow 17-14 loss to Ohio State.
