Lane Kiffin hit a major milestone this past Saturday, securing his 100th college football win as the No.9 Ole Miss Rebels (5-1, 1-1) defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks (3-2, 1-2) with a score of 27-3 score. However, it wasn’t just the victory that had everyone buzzing, his daughter, Landry Kiffin, went the extra mile to mark the occasion in the sweetest way possible.
Landry, a sophomore at Ole Miss, surprised her dad with a special cake to celebrate his 100th win. She wrote on the cake:
"Your #1 fan. Love – Landry," showing just how proud she is of her father’s coaching accomplishments.
Kiffin, who has also coached at Tennessee, USC, and Florida Atlantic, now boasts a 100-50 career record. What made this win even more special was Landry’s role in persuading her father to stay at Ole Miss.
Last year, when rumors were flying high that Lane might take up the head coaching job at Auburn, Landry and her friends got together to create a slideshow to sway him towards staying in Oxford, Mississippi.
“You left me one time for another job when you went to Alabama, and now I’m here with you and you’re going to do it again?” asked Landry.
Lane Kiffin faces a problem ahead of potential 101st win in Week 7
The Ole Miss HC faces a “Tre Harris” problem as the Rebels gear up for a daunting challenge in Week 7 against LSU. Kiffin’s team may have to step on the gridiron without their wide receiver. Harris has been sensational this season, leading the FBS with 885 receiving yards. However, he left the game against South Carolina early due to injury.
Before exiting, he scored 81 yards on three receptions, including an eye-pleasing 57-yard catch. Aiming for his 101st career win in the week 7 matchup against LSU, Kiffin expressed his frustration over Harris' absence during a press conference, stating:
"We've got to perform better than we did in the second half without him."
The Rebels managed only three points without their receiver, highlighting his importance to the offense. Harris' connection to quarterback Jaxson Dart has been one of the most lethal in college football this season. His absence would be a significant blow for Lane Kiffin against a tough LSU team at Baton Rouge.
