USC Trojans quarterback Miller Moss stepped in for departed QB Caleb Williams during the Holiday Bowl clash against the Louisville Cardinals. Moss produced a stellar performance throwing for 372 yards on 33 attempts resulting in six touchdowns. Since that day, he has become a household name in college football.
Moss is expected to be the demanding coach Lincoln Riley's starting quarterback next season. As the season draws closer, the QB is celebrating an altogether different milestone off the gridiron.
Moss posted a series of snaps of his longtime girlfriend Sofia Hildebrand on his Instagram stories on her birthday with sweet captions.
"I love you," Moss wrote.
"Happy bday to my best friend," he wrote on the second slide.
Miller Moss and Sofia Hildebrand have dated since October 2023. They used Halloween as a coming-out party with Moss dressed as Winnie the Pooh and Hildebrand as Piglet.
Hildebrand studies business administration and management at the USC Marshall School of Business. She is also a media and marketing manager intern for the USC baseball team and a social media and marketing campus manager for Fresh Prints.
Miller Moss due for a big season
Miller Moss has the unenviable task of replacing a former Heisman Trophy winner who was picked No. 1 in the NFL draft. Although he had a fantastic audition for the job, a full season of fulfilling the task is a different matter altogether.
During the USC Trojans' spring game, Moss was inconsistent, completing 16 of 21 passes for 133 yards resulting in one touchdown and two interceptions in what was a rusty showing. In comparison, backup quarterback Jayden Maiava finished with 15 of 17 passes completed for 172 yards resulting in one touchdown and one interception.
After his stellar showing in the Holiday Bowl, Moss revealed to reporters that coach Riley, who had been looking for an experienced quarterback in the transfer portal to replace Williams, told him that he would stop his QB pursuit.
"He was like, 'Hey, great job. I just want to let you know we're not going to take an older transfer,'" Moss said. "I think Lincoln really wanted to see me play and then was going to make a decision because I think he wanted to see if what happened in the game confirmed his practice evaluation."
Luckily for Miller Moss, he plays under renowned "quarterback whisperer" Lincoln Riley, who has coached three quarterbacks to Heisman wins. USC fans will hope that any inconsistencies in his game are ironed out before the season begins.
