The No. 16 Indiana Hoosiers blasted Nebraska 56-7 in a surprising Saturday beatdown.
Shocking Indiana continued its positive mojo in a conference battle with a dangerous Nebraska team. Indiana (7-0, 4-0) finds themselves in the unlikely position of being a College Football Playoff contender, while Nebraska (5-2, 2-2) looked to play spoiler. While Nebraska had won six of the last seven games with Indiana, the Huskers were dominated on Saturday.
Indiana has a new coach in Curt Cignetti and a new lease on life. The Hoosier offense has been one of the stories of the 2024 season, with IU averaging 47.5 points per game for the first half of their season. Games with Michigan and Ohio State remain, but IU is competitive in a way they hadn't been in a long while.
Meanwhile, Nebraska has turned the reigns of its offense over to freshman QB Dylan Raiola, who had been efficient so far, but seemed overmatched by Indiana. Nebraska's only prior loss was a single-score defeat to Illinois. Their road trip to Ohio State comes next week.

Indiana scored on the game's opening possession and never looked back. That initial 75 yard drive ended in a five yard scoring run by Justice Ellison. From there, the Hoosiers simply had all the answers. Rourke played well before departing the game after halftime due to a half injury sustained near the end of the first half. Backup Tayven Jackson was efficient in relief and one of the nation's most productive offenses lived up to its hype.
Nebraska did put together some lengthy drives, but struggled to turn possession into points. After a turnover on downs in Nebraska's second possession, the Huskers pulled within 14-7 on a seven yard TD run from Jacory Barney. But that ended up being the highwater mark for the Huskers.
Indiana was dominant in the run and pass and stretched their halftime edge to 28-7, before pulling away by an even broader margin in the second half.
Indiana will likely move up in the football polls and remains a viable CFP contender hosting Washington next week. Nebraska will get no rest as they next make a road trip to Ohio State, where the Buckeyes remain daunting.
