Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders did not have a great game in week 2 against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The QB decided to forego the 2024 NFL draft and return to Colorado for one final season before going pro. He was decent during the victory against ND State in week 1, recording 445 passing yards and four TD passes for the Buffs.
However, Shedeur Sanders faltered during Colorado's week 2 showdown against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The QB mustered 244 passing yards and one TD pass. This was not enough to lead the Buffs to victory as they lost 28-10 to the Cornhuskers.
Furthermore, Shedeur left the game early with just two minutes left. He was replaced by backup QB Ryan Staubb for the final minutes of the game. Fans were not happy with this decision and took to social media to voice their opinions.
One fan compared Shedeur Sanders' walking out of the game to that of NBA star LeBron James' strategy.
"Injured or LeBron James move?
Another fan wondered if he was hurt.
"If he's not hurt, then that's a horrendous choice."
This fan trolled the Colorado QB by talking down his choice to exit the game with just two minutes left.
"Surprised he could walk without a spine."'
Another fan questioned Shedeur's leadership skills following his decision.
"Colorado is four yards away from being 0-2. It is a bad look for a player to abandon his team before the end of a game. Leaders don't do that. 'Me first' players do that."
This fan also agreed that Shedeur abandoning the game in the final minutes puts a stain on his personality and character.
"Bad look. I hope his father doesn't let it go. You never leave your team when there is still time on the clock."
Shedeur Sanders' performance against the Nebraska Cornhuskers
Unlike their season opener against ND State, Shedeur and the Buffs struggled on the offense against Matt Rhule's team on the gridiron. The Colorado QB was sacked five times as the O-line failed to protect Shedeur. He managed to put up just 244 passing yards with one passing TD in the fourth quarter of the game.
For Coach Prime, this is not the type of performance he expects from his team, especially after spending the offseason revamping the roster. He brought in new O-line players to better protect Shedeur Sanders on the field. However, it looks like the Buffs are still making the mistakes they made last season.
In week 3, the Buffs will take on the Colorado State Rams in the Rocky Mountain showdown. Can Coach Prime and his team overcome this loss and emerge victorious next week?
