Colorado Buffaloes star two-way player Travis Hunter is finally making a comeback against the Stanford Cardinals. Hunter, who transferred from Jackson State for this season, has been an indispensable part of Deion Sanders' game plans for Colorado.
Travis Hunter picked up a lacerated kidney injury in Week 3 against Colorado State, when Rams safety Henry Blackburn hit Hunter during the game. While he did make a comeback on the field for the game, he was then ruled out before the start of the second half, as the CU Buffs went on to win the game 43-35.
Now, after missing out on three games for Colorado while rehabilitating from his injury, Hunter is finally making a comeback on both the offense and defense as the Buffs play Stanford tonight. In a clip shared on social media, we see the two-way player warming up on the field for the game, making an impressive one-handed catch on a pass made to him.
Travis Hunter was an important asset for Deion Sanders when the Buffs went on to win their first three games of the season against TCU, Nebraska, and Colorado State. His performance helped Colorado put up a better record than last year's 1-11 campaign. CU Buffs' official Instagram account posted a short video of Travis stating that he is finally back on the field for his team.
In the absence of Hunter, Colorado lost consecutive games to Oregon and USC. But last weekend, they were able to secure a 27-24 win over Arizona State.
Earlier, ahead of their week 7 showdown, Coach Prime shared an update with fans about the availability of Travis Hunter for the game. During that press conference, he gave a hint that Hunter could be making his comeback for Colorado this weekend.
"There's a tremeduous chance he could play. He has to be in shape. I don't want him to be a liability, I always want him to be a tremenduous asset", Coach Prime said.
Travis Hunter's stats so far this season
Hunter has been dominant in the early half of the season during his debut for Colorado. He played 144 snaps against TCU and 126 against Nebraska.
On the defensive end, Hunter had recorded nine total tackles and one INT prior to his injury. On the offense, he has 213 receiving yards but has yet to score a TD for the Buffs.
