Arch Manning stepped in for Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers during the team's week three game against the UTSA Roadrunners. Ewers left the game with an abdominal injury in the second quarter.
Manning impressed after throwing for 223 yards and four touchdowns, excluding the 67-yard rushing touchdown.
Is Arch Manning starting for Texas in Week 4?
On Thursday, it was announced that Arch Manning will be the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns in week 4.
Heading into this game, Manning's college career includes a few snaps during games that were already blowouts for the Longhorns. This was partly because Manning was not experienced enough.
The debut will be a highly anticipated one. Manning was a five-star prospect coming out of high school, and this game will give fans the chance to see if Arch Manning can live up to the high expectations that have been placed on him.
Arch Manning's performance praised by his coach
Maning's performance against UTSA was praised by his coach, Steve Sarkisian, who believes that some of what he did on Saturday will help him in this week's game as the starting quarterback.
“I love the post throw to Ryan Wingo for the for the long touchdown. The big corner route to Ryan. He threw a beautiful kind of slot fade to Johntay Cook for a touchdown. He did some nice things for us and extended some drives on third downs. So that was a great experience for him that he got,” Sarkisian said earlier this week.
Mannings performances last week and this week are likely to be the first of many for the quarterback.
While this week's starting role may be a brief appearance in the Longhorns' season, Quinn Ewers' return timetable is unknown, so Arch Manning could be a Longhorns starter for longer than expected.
