Steve Sarkisian has successfully developed one of the most versatile and deepest quarterback rooms in the country. With talent powerhouses like Quinn Ewers, Arch Manning and Trey Owens, the Longhorns find themselves in a good spot heading into the 2023 college football season.
Owing to his popular last name, Manning has been a point of conversation ever since Quinn announced his surprising return for another year, as many expected him to declare for the 2024 NFL draft. This move delegates the backup quarterback position to Manning, who was initially projected to play the primary QB role this season. Despite the outside noise, Manning has clarified his intentions to stay with the Longhorns time and time again.
During an interview at the annual Manning Passing Academy, Manning opened up about his decision to stay in Texas:
"I like the situation I'm in. I like Austin, I like the school, I like the coaching staff, I like the people in the building. And it takes a while as a quarterback you try to make an impact where you are. It takes a while to learn everyone's name and learn and all the staff.
"So I didn't want to have to go somewhere else and redo that, do that again. I like the situation I'm in. Sometimes got to stay patient and stay ready for your turn. And I'm happy where I am at and I can't wait to stay there few more years and win some games." [Time stamp - 0:20]
Steve Sarkisian weighed in on the Arch Manning situation

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian commented on the chatter around Arch Manning's decision to stay with the Longhorns:
"Everyone's praising Arch for staying at Texas. He is going into year two... Everyone's saying, 'Good for Arch for sticking it out for Texas in Year 2.' And I'm like that's part of the process. We’re developing him to be a great football player and a great leader. That's where we are at."
